ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
We partner with ProFeds to provide a unique CSRS and FERS benefits workshop that is focused on helping federal employees apply what they are learning in the classroom to their own situation. Instead of teaching at a very technical level regarding the benefit rules, we aim to educate employees to know the financial impact of retirement and benefit decisions, and to make those decisions carefully based on sound information.
ProFeds satisfies federal agencies’ requirement to provide pre-retirement training to their employees. Federal agencies may utilize their discretion to allow employees to attend our workshops without charging leave via the SF-182. The trainer provides their signature on that form at the conclusion of the training.
While federal benefits are often confusing and difficult to interpret, this workshop breaks down complex concepts into easy‐to‐understand language to show employees how proactive benefit decisions can positively affect their overall financial situation.
The employees who typically benefit most from this workshop are within 5‐10 years of retirement. Those closer to retirement often have specific questions and concerns regarding retirement decisions to be made—and that makes this workshop particularly relevant to their situation.
Tailoring the workshop to meet the needs of employees
With the wide array of federal employees we train, we know the importance of tailoring the workshop material to suit their specific needs. The most common accommodations we make are for audiences of Law Enforcement Officers, Air Traffic Controllers, and Firefighters.
Following the workshop
As the financial professionals who host the workshop, we offer each attendee an opportunity to meet to review their specific situation and develop a personalized Federal Benefits Analysis together. This analysis helps to demonstrate the value of their benefits and identify key decisions to be made as they move closer to retirement. This benefits review is offered at no cost and no-obligation to the agency or attendee.

Our first appointment will be a no-obligation opportunity for us to get to know each other better. During this fact-finding stage, we will ask a series of questions in order to find out more about your federal service, your current financial situation and your goals for the future. We provide an overview of your Federal Benefits along with general financial planning and retirement concepts that may be incorporated as part of our recommendations.

Review Your Federal Report & Begin a Customized Income Plan
Reviewing your personalized Federal Report is essential in understanding the benefits you are entitled to and utilizing those to enhance your retirement. We will also discuss areas that could be enhanced from the private sector, which could enable you to receive the best of both worlds. These recommendations will be customized to your specific situation and goals. We will take as much time as needed for you to fully understand and ask as many questions as you may have. Once we have made the decision to proceed with comprehensive Retirement Income Planning, we begin with your monthly expense budget, assets and liabilities for analysis to then recommend various solutions to reach your goals.
REVIEW CUSTOMIZED INCOME PLAN
Review Customized Income Plan, Implementation and Maintenance
We meet to review the details of your customized Retirement Income Plan and make recommendations on how to reach your goals. Following that in depth analysis and development of your customized Retirement Income Plan, we begin implementation of those recommendations. We will be with you through every step of the implementation phase to ensure that:
1) We answer all your questions & concerns.
2) Keep you up-to-date on the progress.
Quarterly, semi-annual or annual financial reviews are part of the quality and service commitment to provide ongoing, proactive financial oversight for you. Your needs can change over time and by scheduling regular reviews we can better anticipate any needs before they happen. We also host regular financial and educational workshops, which you are invited to attend during the years as an opportunity for a financial refresher, as well as an information exchange.
